Viet Nam IPv6 Only Deployment Plan

On 27 October 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology issued the “Program to Promote, Implement, and Transition Viet Nam's Internet to IPv6 only for the 2026 – 2030 period” under Decision No. 3369/QĐ-BKHCN, setting the goal of a comprehensive migration of the Viet Nam's Internet to the next-generation IPv6 only model, in close alignment with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 71/NQ-CP on breakthroughs in the development of science and technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

Under the new Program, the transition roadmap has been accelerated by two years, targeting an IPv6 adoption rate of 90%–100% by 2030 and the gradual phase-out of IPv4. Viet Nam aims to rank among the top 10 – 20 countries worldwide in IPv6 and IPv6 only deployment, contributing to innovation, digital infrastructure modernization, and the rollout of new high-quality services (5G, 6G, cloud, AI, etc.).

Vietnam is among the leading countries in IPv6 deployment, proactively advancing through the successful phase of the transition, with an IPv6 adoption rate of 67.68% (as of end-November 2025)—placing it in the global top 7—and will continue to build on this momentum, address challenges, seize new opportunities for development and innovation, and deliver new value to the economy and society.
