VNNIC co-host 60th Member Meeting of the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC 60) in Da Nang City
From 9 to 11 September, 2025, Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), in collaboration with APNIC, organized the 60th Member Meeting of the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC 60) in Da Nang City. This is the highest-level regional conference on IP/ASN policy development. This year’s meeting was held on a much larger scale than previous editions, gathering more than 800 delegates from both domestic and international organizations (online and offline), including high-level leaders and experts from 53 economies, global Internet resource management organizations (ICANN, RIRs, NIRs, etc.), international standards bodies, and leading technology and telecommunications enterprises. The event strengthened international cooperation and reaffirmed Viet Nam’s role and position in the region.
In the framework of the Meeting, VNNIC conducted Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremonies with CNNIC, MCMC, NIXI, APAC IPv6 Council, held bilateral meetings with JPNIC, and KISA.

Overview of the Meeting
Since 2003, VNNIC has been recognized by APNIC as Viet Nam’s National Internet Registry (NIR), responsible for allocating and managing IP addresses and ASNs in Viet Nam. The representative of VNNIC continues to serve his third consecutive term as the elected Chair of the National Internet Registry Special Interest Group (NIR SIG) for the 2025–2027 term, reflecting the continued trust and recognition of the international Internet community.
Developing a Sustainable and Prosperous Internet Where Digital Values and Innovation Can Flourish
Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang, Director General of VNNIC, delivered the opening remarks at APNIC 60
In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang noted that the world is entering the era of digital transformation. The Internet today plays a foundational role in promoting socio-economic development, innovation, and digital transformation. The Internet is no longer merely a technology, but has become an essential infrastructure, a space of development connecting people, nations, and ideas.
In this context, the effective management of IP addresses and Autonomous System Numbers (ASN), together with the acceleration of IPv6 deployment for the national Internet network, has become the foundation for meeting the ever-growing demand for connectivity — towards an Internet that is larger, faster, safer, and flatter, where digital values and innovation can thrive.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang expressed his belief that APNIC 60 embodies the vision and breakthrough leadership in science and technology development in line with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and the strategy for international integration in the new context in accordance with Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW. The conference provides a valuable opportunity for the Vietnamese Internet community to participate in shaping and developing global Internet technologies and policies, ensuring the construction of a sustainable digital future.
The year 2025 marks 25 years of VNNIC’s continuous contributions to the development of the Internet in Viet Nam and 27 years since the country’s first connection to the global Internet. Over more than two decades, Viet Nam has achieved remarkable milestones — ranking among the top 10 countries in the world in IPv6 adoption (65%), pioneering the “IPv6 for Gov” program to transition government networks to IPv6, and strengthening national Internet infrastructure with advanced technologies such as DNSSEC, RPKI, and eKYC.
In the coming period, VNNIC will continue close cooperation with the international community to build a modern, secure, and inclusive Internet infrastructure, accompanying domestic agencies and enterprises in capacity building and awareness raising. The Vietnamese Internet community is growing strongly with many high-quality technical experts, fostering stronger cooperation and deeper integration into global initiatives. These efforts elevate Viet Nam’s position regionally and globally, reaffirming its determination to accompany the world in the digital transformation era — for a sustainable, innovative, and prosperous digital future for all.

Expanding International Cooperation and Affirming Viet Nam’s National Standing in Regional and Global Forums
The series of bilateral cooperation activities, including the signing ceremonies of four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with CNNIC, NIXI, MCMC, and the APAC IPv6 Council, together with bilateral meetings with KISA and JPNIC, have opened up new opportunities for experience exchange and collaboration.
These activities demonstrate Viet Nam’s strategic vision and breakthrough leadership in science and technology development, in accordance with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on building digital infrastructure and the data economy, and the strategy for international integration in the new era under Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW.
They also reinforce the special and important role of VNNIC as the National Internet Registry (NIR), enhance its international position, and create favorable conditions for Viet Nam to deepen its participation in regional and global Internet development initiatives.
