VNNIC Holds Bilateral Meeting with MCMC to Share Experience in IP/ASN Management and Promote IPv6 Deployment
On 16 January 2025, at the headquarters of Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) in Hanoi, VNNIC welcomed and held a bilateral working session with the delegation of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The two sides shared experiences in the management of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and Autonomous System Numbers (ASN), and discussed the promotion of IPv6 deployment to enhance cooperation in the development of Internet resources and the national Internet infrastructure. This was VNNIC’s first bilateral activity in 2025.
VNNIC is one of seven National Internet Registries (NIRs) responsible for IP/ASN management in the Asia-Pacific region. As the national Internet center of Viet Nam, VNNIC has consistently upheld its role in actively participating in international forums and organizations to safeguard national interests and contribute responsibly to the development of global and regional Internet resource management policies.
At the same time, VNNIC continuously works to strengthen effective bilateral cooperation with national, regional, and global Internet resource management organizations, contributing to Internet growth and policy advancement.
At the request of MCMC, on 16 January 2025, VNNIC welcomed and held a bilateral meeting with the MCMC delegation. During the session, both parties exchanged experiences in operating and formulating strategies for IP/ASN management, as well as strategies for IPv6 and IPv6 only deployment and promotion. The two parties also discussed Internet community development activities in both Viet Nam and Malaysia. In addition, VNNIC provided consultation and technical advice to MCMC on IP address and ASN resource management under the NIR model, thereby strengthening the role of national Internet centers (NICs) and contributing to the advancement of Internet operations and development.
VNNIC and MCMC plan to further develop their bilateral partnership and move toward the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future.
