VNNIC initiates bilateral meetings during ICANN APAC DNS Forum
Within the framework of the ICANN APAC DNS Forum 2025 held in Hanoi, the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) conducted a bilateral meeting on the management and development of Internet resources in the breakthrough phase of the new Internet and the upcoming technology trends.
In addition, VNNIC also held bilateral meetings with national domain name management agencies (ccTLD operators) in the region to strengthen cooperative relations and build a safe and resilient Internet community.
Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), under the Ministry of Science and Technology, is Viet Nam’s Internet Network Center (NIC), responsible for managing and promoting the use of Internet resources in Viet Nam; providing essential infrastructure platforms, core services, and Internet resources (ccTLD, NIR, DNS, Internet Exchange, Whois, etc.) to ensure the stable, secure, and sustainable operation of the Vietnamese Internet; connecting communities and promoting the development of a safe and sustainable Internet in Viet Nam; popularizing and efficiently utilizing Internet resources, developing an Internet that is “larger, faster, safer, and flatter,” and enhancing Viet Nam’s ranking in the regional and global Internet landscape.
The smart era, characterized by the development and widespread application of emerging technologies (IPv6, 5G/6G, IoT, AI, IDC/Cloud, SDN/NFV, Blockchain, etc.), requires Internet resources, infrastructure, and core Internet systems to develop and adapt appropriately, maintaining their role as the foundational platform supporting the extensive growth of new Internet technologies and services.
In recent years, ICANN and VNNIC have engaged in various cooperation activities on Internet resource management and development. ICANN has repeatedly sent experts to participate and deliver presentations at workshops and conferences in Viet Nam, contributing to community training in the country, and has trusted VNNIC to serve as the local host for organizing ICANN’s conferences and workshops in Viet Nam (DNS-OARC and ICANN DNS Symposium – IDS 2023; APAC DNS Forum 2025).
The in-person bilateral meeting within the framework of the ICANN APAC DNS Forum 2025 between the global top-level Internet management organization and Viet Nam’s national Internet management organization, chaired by the leadership of both sides, reaffirmed the mutual commitment to cooperation and opened a new phase of closer collaboration between ICANN and VNNIC, aiming toward the shared goal of ensuring the safe, reliable, and sustainable management and development of the Internet, and fostering alignment and interaction between national and global objectives.

In addition, VNNIC also held bilateral meetings with national domain name management agencies in the region, including the Indonesia Domain Name Management Agency (PANDI), the .AU Domain Administration (AUDA), the Lao National Internet Center (LANIC), and the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), to exchange views on Internet resource management, development, and security assurance, strengthen and expand cooperative relations, and open new opportunities for collaboration — toward the goal of building a strong, safe, and trusted Internet community.
